The rack railway exhibition

This permanent exhibition is inside the building where the old Monistrol-Vila station used to be. The building was restored for this purpose. As well as the sentimental and historical value of the building, because it has been restored it can now hold an exhibition on the Montserrat rack railway, with three main themes:

The old rack railway (1892 - 1957)

The main rack railways in Europe

The main part of the exhibition is basically the old Montserrat rack railway, with documents, photographs, graphic signs and objects that have been collected and preserved over the years.
There is an interactive video system that displays historical and new images of the rack railway. This exhibition has been produced by the FGC, in collaboration with the Associació d’Amics del Cremallera de Montserrat, an organisation that has provided most of the material in the exhibition.
